For the opening night of our theatre area, we were delighted to welcome Clinton Heylin to discuss Bob Dylan’s Gospel Years, hot on the tail of the release of his book Trouble In Mind: Bob Dylan’s Gospel Years – What Really Happened and the new Bob Dylan box set release Trouble No More: Bootleg Series Vol.13 for which Clinton was a consultant. We couldn’t have been in better hands. Organised by our friends The CAT Club, and hosted by their very own Rev Reynolds, together with a capacity audience, many of whom had great knowledge of Dylan’s life and career, it was splendid start to our cultural programme. The evening begins with Clinton reading from his book and playing tracks from the era – including some rare Bob Dylan onstage ‘raps’ – and is rounded off with a lively Q&A before retiring to the bar to listen to Dylan’s classic gospel album Slow Train Coming and discussing the evening over a pint. Running time 1:05:45. Recorded at Edward’s on 14 November 2017.
